The Second Coming, William Butler Yeats

It occurred to me, today, upon purchasing Elyn Saks’ “The Center Cannot Hold,” that on an eternal time scale, we will eventually name books after each individual line of “The Second Coming.”

Let’s count, shall we?

The Widening Gyre

Things Fall Apart

The Center Cannot Hold

Mere Anarchy

The Blood-Dimmed Tide

Ceremony of Innocence

What Rough Beast

Slouching Towards Bethlehem

Who volunteers to write “The Indignant Desert Birds”?  Anyone?  Dibs!   And, c’mon, people, the second stanza is basically untouched.  Add a veneer of respectability to your work for FREE!
